Silverton High School Closes Friday as Precaution After Threat

SILVERTON, Ore., April 17, 2025 — On Thursday, April 17, 2025, the Silverton Police Department received a computer-generated phone call reporting an incident at Silverton High School. The school resource officer immediately coordinated with high school security, and officers responded promptly to ensure the safety of students and staff. Following a thorough investigation, no threat was identified, and the school dismissed as regularly scheduled.
During the ongoing investigation, authorities were informed of an implied threat targeting
Silverton High School on Friday, April 18, 2025. Police investigators have determined that the swatting threats are isolated to the high school.
In an abundance of caution, the Silver Falls School District has canceled all classes and home athletic events at Silverton High School for Friday, April 18, 2025. All other schools in the Silver Falls School District will remain open, with an increased presence of law enforcement from the Silverton Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
“The safety of our students, families, staff, and community is our highest priority,” said a spokesperson for the Silver Falls School District. “We are working closely with law enforcement to ensure everyone’s safety and to keep our community informed.”
The Silverton Police Department and Silver Falls School District will continue to collaborate to address the situation and provide updates as needed.
